Chef Rodrigo Queiroz had never been in a kitchen, until he moved to California, where he studied business administration. Ironically, he started working at an Italian restaurant. Later, he went to Italy to work with starred Italian chef Gualtiero Marchesi. He also worked in great restaurants like L'Enoteca Pinchiorri Albereta , French Tete Doie, and Daniel Bouloud in New York.
Back in Brazil, he met his friends and future partners: Cid Simão and Marcos Freitas. For a year and a half, they discussed plans to open their own restaurant. As conversations always ended with three glasses of wine on the table, that became the name of the house.
Soon after opening in 2010, Tre Bicchieri has been ranked in Guia Quatro Rodas with two stars. It was also named best restaurant by magazines such as Prazeres da Mesa, Revista Época SP, Guia da Folha SP and was nominated the best Italian restaurant by the magazine Veja SP.
Similar to an Italian residence, the restaurant enchants by the charming house located in the heart of Itaim’s neighborhood. The house is divided into three rooms: lounge, balcony and private room (this, for 30 people, needs reservation). The decor refers to typical Italian homes with ceramics and has a lighting that creates an intimate atmosphere.
In the kitchen, Rodrigo Queiroz adopts the authentic Tuscan cuisine, one of the most fertile regions of Italy, creating dishes with fresh ingredients and homemade pastas, which are prepared with machines imported from Italy. The Tortelli di pecorino al tartufo di San Miniato, stuffed with ricotta and pecorino cheese with truffle butter stands out. It was awarded as the best pasta of São Paulo by Paladar 2012.
The wine list is another regional specialty: there are about 200 labels divided into Chiantis, Montepulcianos, Brunellos and Supertoscanos, and more than a half are from Italy. Distributed in a charming wine cellar entirely made out of glass, they go along with the meal from appetizers to dessert.
